Cadets volunteer at the Edmonton First Responders Half Marathon
On Sunday 3 May, a group of 12 Edmonton cadets were up early to volunteer at the Edmonton First Responders Half Marathon at Laurier Park. Now in its 14th year, the event sends runners along the river valley trails on 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, and 1 km routes.
From around 0815 until 1300, cadets helped with runner check-in, pointed the way along the course, and handed out medals at the finish line. It made for a long morning on their feet, and a good one. Community service is a real part of the cadet program, and the organizers passed on their thanks for the squadron’s help.
Days like this are a chance for cadets to give back to the city and to see the wider community they are part of. Well done to everyone who came out and represented 12 Edmonton.
